Did gm make a running change on the line at some time, so that certain early build dates should have the 973 and other later ones the 989 if so, around what date did the conversion occur if not, is the 989 simply the replacement number that gm decided to go with since they were using it elsewhere somewhere in the research information on the 69o I got from the club, there is also a handwritten note saying doc Watson mentioned a few also got the here is my question. This came from a local long time Oldsmobile collector. Any other questions randy.

The green tag shows part number supersedes or vice versa. Not surprising I guess, since it was used on the 1970 w 30 and shows up in some later gm parts catalogs of the era such as my 1975 edition as a correct replacement part number for the 69o.
